I’m so glad you’re here!

Collaboration~Empowerment~Growth~Positivity

Growing up as the oldest of 7 kids on a rural farm in Ohio, I learned early on in life the power of collaborating with others to achieve a goal, enjoying the simple things in life, and that working smarter doesn’t always mean working harder.

When I started my first year of teaching in a urban school, I learned quickly that those same lessons could apply to many life situations. I sought out resources and advice from veteran teachers and my instructional coach and set a deadline to leave school within an hour of students leaving so that I wouldn’t burn out too quickly.

Education has changed frequently in my 17 years of teaching, but what hasn’t changed is my love for teaching reading and writing to kids, collaborating with fellow middle school language arts educators, growing my teaching skills, and maintaining a positive environment.

That is what The Transformational Classroom is all about.

Let’s Be Friends!

A few more things about me…

I’m OBSESSED with McDonald’s Diet Coke. Give me a large Diet Coke over a Starbucks PSL any day.

I believe that we are better together than divided and I am constantly trying to build bridges rather than burn them.

I love outdoor concerts in the summer. They are life-giving!

My love language is acts of service and I really enjoy making a delicious meal to show someone that I care about them.

Fall is my favorite season for so many reasons, but mostly because I don’t feel pressure to be going places. I’m my happiest curled up on the couch with a good book and cup of tea.

My husband and my four children bring me joy. We are in our busiest season ever, but I know I will miss it one day so I take time to be grateful everyday.
